Using Wings is very similar to using Sketch-up - so if you like Sketch-up, you'll probably like Wings. I did spend some time with Wings as well.
To me, Blender appeared to be the strongest and most versitle of the 3, the most supported of the 3, and certainly has the largest user community of the 3. You are right, the hard part is understanding the interface. animation, game programming, etc., the interface begins making more sense. And, when I consider all the stuff Blender can do i.e. Once you spend a little time with Blender, the interface becomes more intuitive. I certainly am not motivated to hand reconstruct all the 2d drawings I use regularly. The problem is - it only imports IGES files and I have yet to find a way to convert all my Corel, dwg, and dxf files to an IGES format without having to purchase yet another program to do that. I found some modeling software the easiest of all 3 (including Blender) to learn and use.
I have worked with both some modeling software and Wings.
